Tamara Lea Hoit (Vorbau) Mommyhoit@aol.com Well, it has been several months since the reunion. I am glad that everyone had a great time. I am a little puzzled about some of the vibes I received. It was a little scarey that some of you asked "Were you really in prison?" Yes ,I was, but as a correctional officer! Same for Terri. She has worked for The Department of Justice for over 12 years. Although I enjoy my current employment(second grade teacher) I wouldn't have trade my experience with the state prison system. Time has not changed for many of our class mates. Sometimes that is not always a good thing. Although I must say some of you really seemed to have it all together. If I were to able to give an award for the person that was most "real" it would go to Julie Harris. She made a statement that was felt by many. This "Class note" may seem like sour grapes it's not! I had a great time and can't wait until the next reunion. It's just that I realized that there is more to life then what I look like, what Job I have or how much money I am making. Some of you know what I am talking about. As for my post reunion activities, I have been really busy! So I should get back to work. However I do have several "post a note" to classmates that I enjoyed talking with. Peter- My son is starting to take drum lessons, I am finally realizing that it takes more than just good looks to play the drums.( ps. Take a chill pill!) Nancy W. Wow! Quads You must be a saint and very strong. It will get easier. Sharon N. - Thanks for the perspective. Mark R.- From one teacher to another, it is a noble occupation. Barb P.- You look happy! And a special thanks.... you guessed it... Anne O. you did a fantastic job. |

Barb Ryan Spall Well, here it is the middle of January and something made me check the reunion website "just one more time"--I've spent the past 45 minutes reading these post notes feeling grateful & guilty at the same time--grateful that you all have shared your favortie memories with everyone and guilty that I haven't yet. I guess I kept putting it off because I felt that I couldn't say anything original but somehow today I as I have been hammering home the importance of my kids sending thank you notes for their Christmas gifts--about how important it is to tell people how grateful you are for what they have done and what they mean to you I realize this note is waaay overdue. I had such an incredibly great time seeing everyone at the reunion! It was so odd that it made me feel old and young at the exact same time. As I told other friends that I was going to my 20th reunion I kept saying that it felt like it couldn't possibly be my life--it must be a scene from a movie--you know the one where the calendar pages fly by to show time passing. How could we really be THAT old--almost 40 but then when we got together for our grade school pictures it was like we were kids again. We had a lot of fun at Lincoln School. Bobby (he lets me call him that because that WAS his name)Tretina just cracked me up with his Elvis impression--it was amazing to see people we've known since Kindergarten. Kara Tack & I had matching red dresses in Mrs. Cilley's kindergarten class. Sue Molin always had the most beautiful hair--long but with a bun--even then. Mike Romas was so TALL at the reunion--how does that happen--I remember him the size that my 6 year old is now and Kevin Penzato--how we always have had a such a great time laughing together. Here are the much needed thank yous: Anne you are the reunion queen! Thanks for being such a great leader. I know you hate it when people single you out when really there were many people to thank but the bottom line is that someone had to step up and start it all and you do deserve to be thanked personally. I really appreciate all of the work of everyone involved--it all was perfect. My kids loved being in the parade--what a great idea! A couple last notes: Jim Tourek, it was nice to get to know you. David Frank, you continue to amaze me with your endearing and faithful friendship--thank you--you mean the world to me! Lisa Kos, I am so glad we have reconnected after these last few years--I've missed you. John Shogren, you are such a great guy--I'm glad I got a chance to know you these past few months. Sue Molin, thanks for always making me feel welcomed--you're always so gracious. Rick Dawrant you will forever make me laugh--you are missing your calling if you are not getting paid for your personality! Thank you for calling me that day on your way to the airport--it was like we talked to each other everyday--and we hadn't for 10 years. Eric F. thanks for continuing to take the pictures that we all love! I know there are others I missed but suffice it to say I am left with a warm-hearted feeling that no matter how old we get that the key to life really is in the friendships. I hope my kids are making the memories now that will warm their hearts and make them laugh when it's time for their 20th reunion. Happy Belated New Year! --Barb :) |

Katie Jantzen Rosenberg Kr4910@aol.com To be redundant...A huge THANKS goes out to Anne and all committee members on a job well done! The entire weekend was a bust minus the rain (lets work on that for 2006-ok?). Really, it was a blast being "home" and it brought back a lot of good memories. It is amazing what 20 years can do to the town and the people who grew up there! ·The shuttle service from O'Hare was superb and the fine red wine reception was outstanding! Thanks to Margaret and Laurie for making it! ·Thanks to Kara for the B&B and the walking tour of GE. ·The Pub was a great way to begin the festivities-the gang and of course the unannounced additions of Jim Horan (or was it Joe Smith?)and Phil made for a great Kick off. ·Phil, I hope you are out of the "Dog House" by now, some things never change! ·To the 5am-ers: I think we need to include a breakfast bar next time. It sure was a lot of fun! Are you sure you all were in our class??!!! Whew, I missed it! ·I think the idea of cots at the airport does not go unnoticed....or maybe we might schedule later flights next time? I am not sure who said "Sleep is overrated" however, they obviously had never been to a 20th reunion and then flown home immediately thereafter! ·I look forward to the 40th Birthday Bash Celebration with all of the "Gang". I will be in touch soon! No backing out! ·Speaking of the "Gang"- It was like old times being with all of you and I am glad we had the opportunity to reconnect. ·I look forward to the published versions of Joe's video and Kris' famous reflections gathered at 1 am. (Not to mention the royalties!!!) ·I am so thankful to have made the reunion- talked with old friends, made new friends, it was one heck of a time!!! |

Debbie Prokop Niehenke vacuum@inlandnet.com WOW...It has taken me nearly a month to get time to read the "POST" notes, but I feel like I have re-visited our AWESOME reunion! It was an amazing time and I can't wait to do it again soon! To those I did get to chat with - you are all the best! To those I missed, or only was able to say HI to - I hope we can find time to e-mail each other! Muffin Long (and ED, too!) - We had way too much fun with you! Have you scheduled the Amtrack trip yet? Laura Kissel - You are still the same smiling, caring friend that I remember from "the wrong side of the tracks"! Let's keep in touch! Rich Jackson - I agree that the weekend went as fast as the 20 years! So glad that I have a son with the same name to remind me of all of our years growing up together!! Joe Smith - Next time you visit your brother, let me know in advance! The WET side of Washington isn't that far away! So glad to see you! Pete Jones - Thanks for "crashing" with us! Your post reunion words are more inspiring to me than you can imagine! By the way...if I slow down, age WILL catch me! Thank you for the ultimate compliment! Jenni (and John!) Lambrecht - It was SO great to re-visit our times together and the "old neighborhood"! John, you remembered more people than I did! By the way, we will try to bring the GTO to the next reunion! Debbie Van Plew - We only had a few minutes to chat, but you are always in my heart! Gwen Lampert - Wish we had more time together! Paddington says HI! and last, but not least! TOM BURAU - What can I say? You turned out to be one pretty cool cousin!! Keep smiling! |

Sarah Armantrout sarmantrout@earthlink.net Well-- I just went through my pictures from the reunion and found myself laughing - so I am finally stepping to the plate with a note..... To answer the big question that has come to my attention -- Yes Tom Burau and I had matching shirts on..... and yes I let Tom pick them out.. I think next time I will but sometimes my taste isn't that great either..but Tom you are the best! You are a good friend don't ever change! I would like to thank the committee - I had alot of fun and met many new friends and that is priceless. I also thought of something we forgot besides the weather - we need to post a sign in list for cars - whatkind and where they are parked..I saw quite a few walking through the lot " I thought I parked it here and it is silver..." Mark and Cheryl I hope you made your flights..... To the Class of 81 women - WHERE ARE THE GOLFERS?! next time you have to play -I don't think I have ever laughed so hard on a golf course without being completely intoxicated... Tom,John and Patty -lets play again! Pam S. yes those were the red tees on the side of the hill......and sorry to the group in front - I can hit a golf ball but not always very accurate-- as you know I found your cart, the cart path and yes the cart shack - the outing wouldn't be complete without me hitting some sort of building.... I still find myself laughing over some of the conversations - Kathe S. you were right we should of run on a ticket... Jeff C. that is quite a motorhome that you have....we should all be proud that we blew the $ minimum out of the water at the Brewery -- way to support the class by downing a few beverages! To the Main Street Group -- our teachers would be stunned to find that we have all survived and turned out to be great individuals!! Have we ever found out who kept flushing our coats and mittens down the toliet? the chairs all tied together so when Mr. P opened the door in the morning they all came crashing down - Chinese Fire Drills on Roosevelt Rd. during field trips - funny how they had to bribe us to be good...and it didn't always work as you all know. Karin and Dave --Sat. night reminded me of ISU--and your parties-minus the beer bongs.... Sue M. and Anne O. I think, reflect and laugh... Paul L. we have dinner/drinks in Vegas - 2 days before the reunion - I saw you more that week than in the previous 20 years... go figure ! Amy and Tracy lets keep in touch more....Barbie all us Main Street girls still laugh about the slumber parties they were the best!! Kathy K. yes the picture with the bride and groom turned out...... There are so many things to say but I won't - maybe at the 25th! |

Carol Scatterday Wenzel wenzelcd@aol.com Thank you for posting all the notes. Reading them has made me feel a little like I was there. Thanks! I hope to see you all at the 25th. Anne et al, thank you for all your time and effort. |

Kristen Parrish Lueth First sight: crowd spilling out onto Main Street from the Brewing Company. Knew we were in for a good time. Impressed by everyone's smiles, tales, integrity (Penzato excluded) and general sense of good will. Floated into Saturday's event, great set-up, well done. Former para-pro Mrs. Rita Parrish was glad to hear we all had a good time (and not on her watch), but was wary of me driving her new convertible through the flood. Can we do hot dry July next time? Tracy Patterson, Eric Williams, Mary Anne Young, all you Chicagoans -- get some bleacher seats at Wrigley for us!!!!!!!!! Who knew Dawrant was really Regis Philbin? No teachers? What did we possibly do to them? Did anyone whisper to Robson's cute baby some stories about Daddy? Glen Oak elementary rules though no one knows where it is/was ... I will do my best to tow in Kelly and Liz for the 25th. Somebody bring Stolfa. Anyone else think they should have cots at the gates at O'Hare for post-reunion sufferers? 6 a.m. came early. Peace, love and understanding to all. Take care: Kris P. |

Joy Harrison Lockner jlockner12@juno.com All I can say is we are all blessed and privileged to be part of the class of 1981 at Glenbard West. What a special group of friends, wonderful school, and great community! I just spent a week in Seattle with a friend who attended her 20-year class reunion with her husband (also from that school), and their reunion couldn't begin to compare. She (like my husband) could not relate to the memories and stories I told! Their reunion was only a Saturday gathering -- no golf, video, web site, t-shirts, etc. Anyway, I did see Bruce in Seattle at his aikido class (my daughter Anneliese had a blast) and his Pea Patch garden -- a different life than suburban Chicago. We both commented on the great time at the reunion and the special friends from GW. It was great to see all of you after so many years and be able to talk as if I just saw you last weekend. I still can't believe I stayed up until 5 AM with the rest of you. I just didn't want it to end. The after 2 AM crowd was great! Although even without alcohol, I felt hung over the next day! Kara & Dede, let's promise to do the Thanksgiving get-together again -- even if Carolyn isn't in town. Carolyn, I hope you are out of that trailer soon -- and certainly before you come to MI this summer! Katie, Margaret, Hillary, Ann, Laurie, let's stay in touch. Bridget, send me emails about your life too! Q, thanks for bringing me so much laughter -- even for the elevator comment! Bruce and Tommy, I will always appreciate your friendship. Kevin, my husband agreed to get together. Cyndi, you looked great! Anne, let's plan again for the 25th. |

Rich Jackson dirtboss926@aol.com it was bad enough that 20 yrs went by so fast, it's hard to believe that the reunion weekend went by just as fast. pam t. and john w. that was way too much fun golfing let's do it again! john s. great job on the golf recovery that was an awesome golf course. friday nite was a gas seeing everybody together it was like being at one of the many parties we had in school things picked up right where we left off. saturday, unbelievable. anne, you did a great job putting this whole thing together. to the gang from spalding school it was so nice to see all of you again it's too bad that there wasn't more of us .debbie p.were does all that energy come from you wore me out just listening to you talk. rene p.it sure was nice talking with you good luck in your future ,. joe s.man you haven't changed a bit other than you're a giant ,keep in touch. to the committee thanks for the fun in planning this unforgettable weekend. to all hope to see at the next one |

Teresa Pagnotta Hoffman tmh5600@aol.com When I walked in the door and saw Jenny Sandoz for the first time in 20 years and let our a loud ear-piercing "oh my God!" at the top of my lungs, I knew we were in for a fun night. I had actually known that since Friday night when I walked in and saw Jim Tourek about twice the size I remember him in high school and Joe Smith with his Jim Horan name tag on. No, come to think of it, I knew it was going to be a blast after playing golf with Laurie Hafner and Phil Whalen and listening to them banter as if they were married while desparately searching for bloody marys and beer. (Thanks Anne, Kathy and Sabine for bringing us cold ones!) I can't recall the last time I had more fun with such a large group of people. What was so cool was that the force fields of popularity and status that kept us apart in the past have now vanished like our youth. But by the amount of partying we did that weekend, you'd think we all were still in our teens! I had a company party on Sunday night and Monday evening getting home around midnight each night following the reunion. After standing in the rain and getting no sleep, it is a wonder I am not sick! Listen to this, I sound like my mother. Anyway, I am all for a 25th - if not sooner! Everyone did a wonderful job. I am so glad and proud to be a part of this class. We really were a fun group! Teresa |

I not only got to see everyone from high school, but I got to see alot of people from grade school. I'm suprised we can remember that far back. Thanks to all that came in from out of town in these troubled times. One special mention to Laura B for the mystery on Friday. Thanks for alot of laughs! Deb, Lynn, Tracey, Pam, Jenni & Laura S. It was great being all together again. What a group we made. Thanks to all the other committee people for the hard work. Can't wait for 25th. |

Pam Brown Tedesco tedesco@scti.net OK, just way too much fun!! What a trip strolling down memory lane - and adding some new entries with some new friends! Thanks to all for your hard work in planning the weekend - you done good! Soupy sod or not, golf was a blast. Pete, remember, it's just a game :-); Steve, straight is good; and John, any time you want to try Gulf Coast golfing, just let me know -- but remember that the red tees are significantly more forward on my courses which could have some interesting ramifications (no pressure!). Becky - we still on for that trip to Vegas?? See you then, Paul! Katie - so good to see you again! The margaritas on Tuesday were yummie. Let's have some more when we get the families together at Christmas! It was great catching up with everyone over the course of the weekend. Can't wait for the next one! |

Carolyn Ferrin LFerrin@allisonmedical.com Thank you Anne, Dan, Tommy, Muffin, and all of the rest of the reunion committee for planning such a great week-end. It was so much fun to see everyone. Highlights for me were: Catching up with great old friends; Seeing how great all the women of the class of 1981 looked - Go Girls! Chatting with the Hawthorne Grade School gang; Dancing with the girls on Saturday night - reminded me of those Socials at the Civic Center. The girls dancing with eachother, while the guys stood around...Some things never change! The biggest highlight was discovering what nice, fun people you all grew up to be! I am looking forward to seeing you all at the next reunion! Oops...I forgot that most of you do not know me as Carolyn Ferrin. It was very strange to be Carolyn King again for a while. Anyway, thanks again to all for a great time! Joy, thanks for the great pictures! |

Reiko Ohnuma reiko.ohnuma@dartmouth.edu These post-reunion notes are an absolute love-fest, so I feel compelled to join in. I’d like to apologize for my earlier comment that the approaching reunion was like a fascinating car-crash, and I’d also like to apologize for all the ambivalence I have felt about high school over the last 20 years. Because actually, I had a really really really amazingly great time this weekend, the best weekend I’ve had in years…maybe it was the ten gin-and-tonics…maybe it was that entire pack of cigarettes I smoked…maybe it was lack of sleep…or all those warm and fuzzy conversations with unrecognizable men…whatever it was, it was wonderful. My ambivalence and sarcasm have all washed away, and I’m just sitting here with a goofy smile on my face, looking forward to the 25th. A huge thanks to Anne and the rest of the committee…I guess someone has to have school spirit, and I’m so glad it was all of you. |

Laura Summer Kissel Laura_Kissel@hotmail.com Hi Everyone. Thanks to all who worked on the Reunion. It was a blast seeing how everyone changed or didn't change over the years. Can't wait for the next one. |

Pam Schmidt Trinco pejaytee@aol.com or partylitepam@aol.com WELL! okay, i am NOT going to thank the committee... you all know what you did. BUT IT WAS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO COOL!!!!!! I WOULD like to thank, however, my extremely patient and uproariously funny GOLF partners, Jeff-John-Joe whoever Wood and Rich DIRTBOSS Jackson! What a riot! My boots will NEVER be the same! Plus - it was the Best @#$! golf score i ever had! As for Friday nite at the brewery - i left a note for my husband that I would be home in about an hour - (i don't really dig the bar scene) and that was at 9:00 pm (i got home around 1:30am) - all i can say is .... OH MY GOD is that REALLY YOU?!?!?!?!?! i said that so many times it now sounds like one word to me... Don Rowe - you really do look like Billy Bob Thorton... and to those of you who grew more than 2 inches taller after high school - i say BAH HUMBUG - good things come in small packages! My weekend shocker (because i missed the 10th) was Joe Smith! HELLO! my husband thinks for sure that i dated you in high school - because i kept saying DID YOU SEE JOE??? JENNIFER Sandoz.... can't believe how incredibly beautiful a person you are! You look like (and this is a compliment...) your MOM!!! It was so good to see you again! I must be running out of space here, but i should mention at least a hundred other people - Jim Tourek - can't believe you remembered living 4 houses from my grama and playing with peter pratt and me... that was TOO funny! Kathy Stoner - I really mean it about your parent's house - let me know if they EVER sell it!!! Tammy Roule - It was like no time had passed since we had our last conversation - we just picked up and went on and on and on ... Karen the Elf... you look deliriously happy with Chuck ! you go girl! it's about time for the tide to turn in your life! (i just wasn't popular enuff to hang with you in school!) Next reunion we certainly need to assign someone to the Saturday weather thing... I want you all know that I was in charge of Friday nite's weather (thank you not necessary) but NO ONE volunteered for Saturday. hmph. And the MEMORIAL was trully touching... As for the rain - for those of you who know my "flat roof" saga, my roofer didn't show last week and when we got home on Sunday a.m. it was to find that the ceiling in our living room "opened up" ontop of the TURNTABLE and all Bob's ALBUMS's that were out, the TV, the vcr, the tuner, MY sound mixer board!!! ARRRRRGHHHHHHHHH all loaded with water - my hardwood floors are now warped and must be replaced in my living room and bedroom - SO instead of crying, we opened another bottle of wine and sat and laffed!!! what else canya do??? we had such a great time at the reunion that material things can be replaced, the memories of all that fun cannot!!! so here's to the rain - LET IT come down! WE WILL PARTY ON! (side note, the tv and vcr still work!)yeah! I think we should let Jeff-John-Joe-whoever Wood work on planning our next event which should be at Disney world where he has "connections" at the Grand Floridian - or in Vegas - with front row seats for Sigfied and Roy - right Paul??? By the way - Paul, if you read this you have my email address and i think we should revive our joke telling days from the cafeteria!! am i out of space yet??? quigs you are SO TALL!...helmut - have you ever thought of being a double for Jeff Goldblum??? tracey/lynn/muffin/debbie/wendy/jenny/laura and boys - oh what fun! can't wait for the next LNO!!! On the down side, i didn't get to see my daughter Valerie before the dance - which got moved to the cafeteria since Biester got flooded that night - but i will get to see the pictures!!! She said the dance was fun! I only wish they would have the foresight to know just how much fun "The Dance" can trully be! God Bless you all and keep you safe and I pray your life will always be a "DANCE"!!! pam trinco Here's a P.S. (my initials) that shouldn't have been a p.s.: EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW THAT Kathy Pajeau Rhear did the Table decorations for the evening! Did anyone take a moment to look at them? Kathy you are extremely talented! The bottles were sooooooo cute too! (i personally can't stand balloons so i left mine at the hotel) Also - Dave Johanson stopped by to see if we all had fun - i just smiled the hugest smile! Then he laffed about a silly story he heard about the footballs being thrown around the reunion hall - I asked him if he wanted to see my bruises!!! enuff said! ciao for now. |

Melanie LeBrecht Wesa Wewesa@aol.com Is it Ok to submit more than one of these notes?? Guess so. As I look at all of the pictures some of you have sent (thanks Dan Marks for putting them on the website), I realized I seemed to miss a lot of you. I wish there had been more time to spend with those of you I really knew fairly well in High School and to those of you I didn't know at all. It was difficult to get passed the "Hi how are you, blah blah blah". It seemed as soon as I got past the formalities there was an awkward silence and then it seemed it was time to find someone else I recognized (which in itself was a bit of a challenge). I regret letting that awkward silence pass and going on to someone else. There were so many people I really wanted to talk to and didn't. I hope at the next reunion things will be a little more relaxed and I'll actually spend some time getting to know all of you. I still had a great time and there were a few of you I spent a great deal of time with and that I don't regret! Just not enough time in one weekend. Maybe the next reunion should be in Maui for a week! Wouldn't that be a riot? Of course there would be the possibility some of us would NOT survive!! I guess it's a chance we'd have to take. See you in Maui! Peace First, I'd like to add my gratitude to everyone else's to Ann O. and all those involved in making this weekend so much fun. I have to admit I was a bit overwhelmed Friday night seeing so many people and having SO much trouble putting names and faces together. Such a weird thing after spending years in school with all of you. I think I had a total of 6 hours sleep the whole weekend. I'm surprised I'm not DEAD! Reiko, next time, I park the car so we're not wandering the parking lots of GE at 1:00am looking for a blue car with the license "I think it starts with 'j'". Some things NEVER change! You know I love that about you. Jim Q, what a "hottie". Kris P, I'll pick music with you any day, we're so cool! Bruce R. you make a fine Dad indeed, Mark D, you are aging VERY gracefully. Pete G, yes, it's a little difficult to imagine you with kids but I bet you're great at it. How many parties did we have at your house??? It was fun to shake off the dust and have no worries for almost three days. Lets do it again soon. Take care everyone. |

Eric Friedemann friedemann@ameritech.net I didn't think it was possible, but I had an even better time Friday and Saturday nights with the 20th anniversery reunion festivities than I did at the 10th anniversery reunion. I'm already looking forward to October of 2006. The women looked outstanding, way better than the guys (and most of them have had kids). Laurie Haffner looked hot, even though she didn't wear that purple dress from ten years ago. That was Joe Smith and not Jim Horan? Has anyone ever seen the two of them in the same room? Dan Marks has photo cds of all the pix I took and will be posting some of them. I'll be sending photos out in the next two weeks or so, if I have your mailing address (hint- friedemann@ameritech.net). Thank you all for the best time I've had all year (with my clothes on). May 2006 find you all happy and healthy. |

Steve Anderson sga62@aol.com Wow, where to start? I wasn't really sure what to expect from the weekend. What I ended up getting was one of the more fun weekends I have had in a long time. John S. thanks for putting together the golf outing-it turned out great. Friday night was really amazing (even with Laura Burda bringing up things I had long since forgotten). the best thing was that I said more to some people this past weekend than I probably said the 4 years in high school. Tanks to everyone who participated, you gave me some memories I will not forget. |

Joe Smith...Jim Horan to a few! (you know who you are) Jms451@phonplus.com 3/19/2002 - Well it's been a while since the reunion...But, the further this last one gets behind us the closer the next one will be! I Have called few people(you might be next) and e-mail'd a few more! And, I just can't get over how many of those I have talked to are still as excited now as they were in the weeks before and during the 20th! Sure a few people were pretty aloof still, but I didn't think those who were there to have fun noticed or gave a rats ass! I for one would not trade a moment of the time I spent in good old GBW for any thing! I never really thought about being popular in high school as I was having to hard of a time finding the dangling participle in my english class to care! So, once again thanks to everyone who put up with a Hand grabbing, "what the hell are you up to?", is this your spouse?, pat on the back and a few hugs that were a little awkward guy who just happened to live in the same town(wrong side of two sets of tracks) and had one hack of a time not fitting in but, never being left out! One last thing... I was impressed with everyones willingness to sit, listen and share their memories past(or how they recalled), their current lives and future dreams! See you all in five years..unless you hit me with a snow ball and in that case I may want to stop by and see you a little sooner..You know who you are...LOL Smith 1)I would like to say is THANKS to those of you who put on a great weekend, at what had to have been great personal sacrifice! I had such a great time seeing everyone and hearing about your new lives and laughing about our old ones at Glenbard! The sands of time could never cover up the memories good or bad we all had in high school and it was good to see people put aside petty differences and have a good time with the not so in crowd! I am making a video from the stuff I shot at the reunion! It may take a month to put it together, so please bare with me! A few last thoughts... Thanks KARA (pronounced Shara)for being such a good sport and making me laugh! Thanks Mark Russell who really thought I was Jim Horan and asked me if I was still in a band! And thank you all for making my high school days hell and then making up for it at the last two reunions by being yourselves! |

Kara Tack Ward rkckward@mac.com Wow! What a good time. I am amazed so many people made such an effort to come to the reunion. I probably wouldn't have, but now I won't miss an opportunity. I feel a bit schizophrenic bouncing from the high of the weekend to the disappointment that it is all over. I listened to Say Goodbye by the Dave Matthews Band on the way home and couldn't help thinking "how true" (in an innocent way). I hated to say goodbye, but it is great to go back to being friends after such a long time. I really wondered living in Glen Ellyn if I wanted my kids to go to Glenbard West, but now I realize how fortunate I was. (My husband cannot relate to this whole reunion thing) Anne, as I said I will be a much bigger help planning the next one, and my house is always open so long as Fred/Rick doesn't spill! Phil, I still haven't run by your house. Katie I loved the walk, its just not the same without you. Laurie, thanks for covering the airport run, you know how important the PTA is, next to book group! Hillary and Ann we aren't that far. Joy and Dee Dee we really aren't far. Bridget, call for lunch. Reiko and Dave I really wanted to hear more about the academic life, it is a fantasy of mine. Most of all thanks to the after hours crew. No offense, but the best part of the reunion was after midnight. Next time I'll check my email (I am a regular now ) so we can all be toghether for the pre,pre party. I wish I had known some of you better earlier. Take care and keep in touch. Let's do it again soon. |

Paul Erbe Thanks to all who set up this monumental event. I really had a great time on Friday and Saturday. Good to see you all. See you in Five. |

Pete Jones pjones8404@msn.com It is with a heavy heart and great saddness that I write this. As some of you know, I did not pay for Saturday night, yet attended anyway. My reasons, at the time, seemed justified. But upon reflection and a lot of guilt, they clearly were not. It is not important anymore what those reasons may have been except to understand that I unfairly took advantage of the class and the services that it had provided. Those actions were wrong and will always be wrong no matter what reasons I came up with. I told myself, "who cares what they think!" Well the truth is I do care, and have always cared, what you all think and it hurts to think that just one person was upset because of my actions. (You would think that at age 39 I would have figured that out!)My own self interest and motives were so clouding everything that I didn't even stop and think what this means to everyone else. Please know that I never wanted to take away anything from anyone! I will be sending my money for the evening to Jodi this afternoon. I know it is late and holds little consolation to those who were and are still offended by my actions. To the entire class, I take full responsibility for my actions and ask for your forgiveness. I am truly sorry and would clearly handle everything differently if I had it to do over again. So, 20 years have gone by. Some for the better, some not. I have a lot of people to thank but to all of you who asked me about the music, let's just say that not all things work out in life. "Nuff said, but I will return! To the following people, thank you so much for your support and your kind words! This weekend could have been a huge bust but thanks to your friendship and support I made it through just fine! Forgive me for leaving off your married names! I honestly can't remember them all!
- Laura Summers..I am a much richer person for spending time with you! Thanks for listening and being a great dance partner! And finally I wish to thank Jodi Stitsinger. Your support, your wisdom, your kindness and your well wishes will never be forgotten! I wish everyone in the class continued health and happiness! |

You're the best. Miss you all already. Let me know if you're ever in NYC!! Laurie |

Mary White Hummell Bulldog82@msn.com The reunion was OUTSTANDING! Thanks to the fabulous planning and hard work of Anne and the entire committee. The class of 1981 is a terrific group of people. I was actually hesitant to come back, but ended up having the time of my life! The memories will live on and on until our next reunion. Let's get together again soon. Sincerely, Mary |

Tourek jtourek@schuckaz.com What a blast! There's too many to single out but the good times and memories will last - I think I was most impressed with the quality persons many of you have become. It was a rare treat to have an opportunity to reacquaint myself with those I knew in my youth, get to really talk to many of you I didn't really know (my loss), and to share what we've been up to since '81. Hearing the "where are they now" life stories this weekend and reading the bio's on my plane ride home was heart-warming. Those involved in the behind the scenes preparation, especially you, Anne - Thank you for your time and efforts! I look forward to getting some pictures and even a copy of Joe Smith's final cut video. Classmates, I truly hope to see you again before the next reunion - and may it be a 25th, not 30th. In a word, the weekend was "Outstanding!" If you're ever in Arizona ... Take care and keep livin' and lovin' life, |

Quigs john_quigley@capitalmortgagelouisville.com Part 3...Saturday night. Kathy the room looked fantastic! Fred/Rick good job on MCing the class picture. Also Pam, Margret and you did a great job keeping our costs down with all the advertising and affording us an open bar. Sue the program looks great. Freid way to handle all us drunks for the Gradeschool pictures. Jodi I'm feeling better realizing that you handled the cash. Sarah, even my wife is jealous of my t-shirt, I'll wear it out in the next 5 years. Pete, showing up showed a lot of class, we're even. Karen, Candy, Joy, Mike, Rich, Tammy, Teresa, Barb, Patty, and Kara there's no dout that these people with all that was done didn't lean on you guys hard for both physical and mentle support, thanks for being there for the rest of us who couldn't. Oh yeah, Dan, thanks for this website, it gave this event an extra breath at the beginning and it has kept it alive so well afterwards. With all the many well deserved thank you's out of the way, on with my final observations. The bash was great saturdaynight. I'm glad we switched the footballs to nerf's instead of the hard plastic one's used 20 years ago. Jean Detmer thanks for being a trooper and congrat's again to you and Dave. Janet thanks for having me bore you with my kids pictures. Scott Bracewell you need to move to L.A. P.B. I think my ego has recovered from our golf outing, next time I'll have game. Back to the evening food was great, I now like Hieniken Beer.(Hated it before the reunion. The afterwards was even better than or was I just drunker. Was that me really dancing at the party? I have to give credit to the hotel, the extra room was very cool. two last notes and for now I am done...Leah,Kevin and Jim we as far as we know are the 4 lasting Saturdaynight. Leah your secret is safe with us. Tourek pace yourself, you almost faded on us. Kevin and Shog's I couldn't have left town with any better goodbye's. My final note is that for four years we had other school's in the WSC tell us we had the "Best Looking Girls in the conference" by God you all are like a fine wine, you have gotten better with age and I beleive would still hold that honor. See ya in five. WOW! At 37 I had no idea that I could rebound night to night.(No coment Shogs, Higs Schutt and Willi.) Great, Great weekend! Anne fabulous job, way to quarterback an awesome team. Mark way to last minute the Otto's imprompto Pre-Party party. It set the stage for an exausting weekend. Shogs swithing courses paid off, way to audible at the 11th hour! Katie Fri-night was more like a frat-party than anything I've been to in years. Bully you have fantastic niehbors, because we were loud. Coneheads the mobilehome was huge, the fountain will never be the same! I have 1 question, do I know John Barbeau? Till part 2 See ya Quigs Yes, I'm back as promised. No, please read on...After waking up with my first hang over in month's, I only caught the last part of the parade, Kathy way to stick it out in the rainy weather and I was very happy to see the kids of our class mates having fun. Did the tour of the school, Scott Strine glad you joined our group, it was great spending the time with you. Muffin, sorry I never swam by the kids tent but I was missing the family too much at that point already, also way to hang out the weather. Dave Frank I totally have the upmost respect for your words of comfort for the classmates that had left us way too early. On that note, for those of you who made it part of their weekend, it showed a lot of class, our turn out was an inspiration. Amy and Steve great job on the whole memorial service. The football game was unfortunately a wet short but a sweet stay. We saw the only scoring and got to hear Tom and Scott wear out the ref's, but wet, hung overand hunger is no way to spend a Saturday afternoon. (Just wasn't the same without the senior women!)Kara your vote won on leaving. To be continued...See you all in five. Quigs |

Marc Johnson mjohnson@megsinet.net What a night !!! I almost thought I was going to miss the 20th reunion also. After missing the 10th because I got married that day I thought there was no way I was going to miss the 20th. At 6:30, when I was standing in my basement with several inches of water and with more coming in, I thought I'll see them at the 30th. Two hours late, my wife and I walked into the reunion. Oh how people change !!! Joe Smith - was that really you? It was nice talking to some of my grade school classmates (Jim & Jeff, John, Barb, Paul ...) Officer Perez you'll have to make it to the 30th!!! Mike Drew, where are you. Main Street School forever !!! . . . |

Mark Russell markwrussell@hotmail.com Part 2. One week later, my thoughts still keep coming back to the reunion... The Glen Ellyn Brewing Company was a great place to have drinks. I don't remember how many I had, but as the night rolled on conversation became easier. I'm not certain know how I confused Joe Smith with Jim Horan, but I also thought Laura Summers was Muffin Goodman. My eyes weren't the only ones blurred by too many cocktails, however. Someone came up to my friend Judy Lowry and asked if she was Leah Nall. Finally, I wanted to say how nice it was to chat with Kara P. and Cathy S. Both of you were always a class act... The dinner-dance was great, too, and I'm pleased a photogrpaher was there to take a group picture. I've shown mine to colleagues and they have all remarked about how good-looking our class was. From the biographies, we are also a very successful class, as well. Glenbard West was a beautiful school with smart students and some great teachers. I only wished I had hit the books harder while I was there...Juanita Anderson was a great instructor of history. Mr. Stark taught an excellent class on modern American literature. Jerry M., your girlfriend is awesome... Denise, Judy and I really enjoyed meeting you. You need to come to Lexington, Kentucky sometime... Pete Pratt, sorry I missed you at the reunion. I've got your email and will write soon. Say hello to Margo and Leslie for me. Barb and Gary, Tammi and Terri, Wendy, Scott Strine, good to talk with you. I wish David Frank and Reiko O. much success in academe. A word of thanks to Eric F for capturing the event on film. I hope Anne O'Hara and the same group will plan the next reunion. Although I'm here in Kentucky, I'd love to help. Bettina Keienburg --- Melde dich mal wieder! blurred by alocohol: someone approached Part 1. After the tragic events of September 11, 2001, it was nice to attend the reunion and return to a more carefree time in our lives. In other words, this weekend was one of the best I've experienced in a long time. I only had the chance to thank Anne O'Hara, but I know so many others were involved. You all did a great job... Anne Spears, I'd love to know where you are... I used to think of Glen Ellyn the way Ernest Hemingway thought of Oak Park -- as a town of broad lawns and narrow minds, but being back this weekend reminded me of how much I miss the place... |

Tom Burau (aka Jeff, Andrew, and Bill) tomburau@hotmail.com I'm sure as everyone else is that they are back to their "normal" lives. I still look back on that weekend and enjoy it. Trying to remember the numerous conversations that took place, trying to place a face with a name--only to find out it was a spouse of someone else. Although the band has gone home, the crowd a mere shadow but the memories will live for a long, long time. I hope that many of you have renewed friendships long lost or have been able to start ones anew. Don't forget, it doesn't have to happen every 5 or 10 years. Emails and phones are only a beat away. First and foremost, it was great to see that the party was a huge success. I really don't think I saw anyone who wasn't having a good time. Even the rain did not deminish having a good time. To all who tried to party in our room after the reunion ended, thanks for joining us. I truly enjoyed talking, listening and seeing everyone. Julie Harris--I still have a bruise! I really wanted to point out that it's nice to finally see that my hair style is becoming popular among males in our class. Q, I won't tell anyone about the hair club for men transplant! Joy, tell john his plan worked well. Dennis Englund and John Early--your aim sucks! As did John Smith...With so many footballs to practice with and so many targets and still only able to hit the ceiling! |
